Vintage Treasure Bag

Hi crafters,

Today I thought I would share with you a bag that I made using the Vintage Treasure CD Rom from Kraftyhands.

Just a reminder that this will be launched on Create and Craft tomorrow (Tuesday 19th February) at 1pm and 6pm by Mike and Ian from Kraftyhands. Hope you can be there to watch or set your recorders - I'll be setting mine although I hope to be watching.

I had the idea of the bag in my head, to try and make something other than a card. I thought about using brown paper as I didn't have any Kraft card. The paper I had though was too flimsy. I was struggling to think where I might get a brown bag that I could decorate. While walking in the precinct in town, I saw a couple of ladies come out of 'The Body Shop' carrying brown bags so went in to buy some hand moisturiser and get a brown bag, only to find that it had 'The Body Shop' advertised on it - as it would as it was from there shop. I got one anyway and thought of how I could cover it as it was also in the side gusset. When I got home, I tried turning it inside out and managed to damage it, so had to come up with another idea.

I used one of the brown mats from the card making section on the Cd and took it into Craft Artist and made a backing paper. I printed this onto A3 card.  In hindsight, this would have been cheaper to do in the first place, it cost me £15 for moisturiser!! Lol! I used one of the projects from the Crafters Companion - Everyday Cd rom to help me make the bag along with my Hougie.

The topper is from the Cd and is decoupaged, along with the hatpin. The hat pin was also covered in Pinflair glaze but it is difficult to see on this photograph.

I added a bow from purple ribbon to the top of the bag and two purple feathers and a purple bow to the bottom right of the topper. I placed a gem on the bow to add some detail.

On the back of the bag, I added a tag which is also from the Cd. I matted this onto a matching purple card from my stash and added a purple bow with pearl fixed to it, again for detail and to match the one on the front.

For the handles, I cheated and used the ones from the 'Body Shop' bag and fixed these to the inside of the bag, so not a total waste of a bag!!

I would like to enter this bag into the following challenges:-

Dream Valley Challenges - Ribbon and Bling (x)
GlitternSparkle - Anything but a card (x)

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy crafting.
